2015 In Review: February – Dozens Welcome Julian Home

Dozens of people stood in frigid temperatures on February 2 to welcome home a young boy in the final stages of neuroblastoma. Julian Ross had just completed another round of tests in Maryland. His family documented the journey on Facebook. Also, the Oswego Salvation Army graduated three students in the inaugural session of the “Bridging the Gap Between Youth and Community Services” program developed by The Salvation Army.

2015 In Review: January – Council, Legislature Reorganize; Hospital Welcomes First Baby Of The Year

Oswego Hospital welcomed its first baby of 2015 at 2:16 a.m. on New Year’s Day. Barry Lee Babcock was the hospital’s first newborn, weighing 8 pounds, 5 ounces. His length was 21 inches. Eric VanBuren (Sixth Ward) and Shawn Walker (Fourth Ward) were appointed president and vice president, respectively of the Oswego Common Council. The Oswego County Legislature got its house in order for 2015, and it looked quite similar to 2014. Kevin Gardner was re-elected as the chairman of the Oswego County Legislature. Fellow Republican Linda Lockwood was re-elected vice chair.

White Christmas Only In Your Dreams, Thanks To El Niño

It looks like Santa Claus better have wheels on his sleigh tonight. According to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service, “Each year we have about a 66.6 percent chance of a white Christmas. This year, it looks like the other 33.3 percent will win out.” After a brief visit from Old Man Winter a couple days ago, December is back in “Indian Summer Mode.”
