After a two-part meeting Thursday, the Oswego County Legislature approved the 2016 spending plan. The budget contains a tax hike of 2.8 percent. That is down from 3.9 percent at the start of the meeting.

The Fulton Police Department has recently partnered with Dunkin Donuts owner Roy Clark in distributing special comfort bags for children caught in traumatizing situations.
On Wednesday (December 9), at 5:07 p.m., members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, Mexico Volunteer Fire Department and Mcfee Ambulance Service responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident on State Route 104 in the town of Parish.
Kayla N. Dagostino was arrested following a traffic stop. Investigators believe the cocaine she allegedly possessed was intended for sale in the city of Oswego. The cocaine that was seized has an estimated street value of approximately $3,000.

Dr. Laurence Malone, a Hartwick College economics professor, presented his plan for a new revenue source for small cities in Upstate New York, including Oswego. His proposal, to add a $100 fee ($50 per semester) to SUNY college students’ bill would greatly alleviate much of the financial stress several upstate college cities are facing.

The Oswego City Fire Department increased its ranks by two and announced two promotions on Dec. 3. During the same ceremony, the Oswego City Police Department welcomed six new officers. Police Chief Tory DeCaire acted as the MC for the ceremony.
