Oswego County Holds First-Ever Olympiad

Phoenix School District hosted the first Oswego County Olympiad at Phoenix High School on May 14. Parents and families crowded the stands as exceptional children with a wide range of different disabilities flooded the sports arena to participate in the Olympiad events. While some of these students have competed in Syracuse’s Olympiad in previous years, this is the first time that Oswego County has held its own event.

Fulton School Budget Passes Despite Low Voter Turnout

Fulton residents took to their local polling places Tuesday to cast their votes for the 2015-2016 school elections. The proposed budget for the coming school year was approved with 368 votes in favor and 262 votes against. Voters approved the $68.6 million 2015-2016 school district budget, a $1.3 million increase from the current year’s budget. Incumbents Daniel Pawlewicz and Timothy Crandell sought re-election. They ran unopposed. Crandell received 396 votes while Pawelewicz, current vice president of the board, received 391 votes.

Committee Paves The Way For Noise Ordinance Waiver

The Planning and Development Committee Monday night OK’d a request for a variance to the noise ordinance despite continued opposition from some residents. Opponents maintain that the music is too loud and continues too late. The bar owner said he has and continues to find ways to mitigate the noise level.
