Parliament Hill  - changing of the guardsWe were told that you haven’t really experienced Ottawa until you have had a Beaver Tail. We wandered through the open-air market past a variety of shops and dining establishments to the Beaver Tail stand. Beaver Tails reminded me of fried dough that was stepped up by adding one of their many varieties of toppings from M&Ms to crushed Oreos to sliced cinnamon apples.

New Youth Court Members Take Oath

The ranks of Oswego County’s Youth Court swelled by a dozen on Thursday. Youth Court is a recognized community diversion program aimed at keeping young offenders out of Family Court. Youth Court is a system, backed by police, where juvenile offenders who have committed a minor crime and have admitted their guilt are tried by their peers in a court of law.

Mexico Village Takes Best-Tasting Water In Oswego County

The Oswego County Legislature’s Health Committee recently presented the village of Mexico with the first-place award in its annual best-tasting water contest. Additional West Nile Virus Found in Oswego County

THIS JUST IN:  The New York State Department of Health today notified the Oswego County Health Department that more evidence of the West Nile virus was found in mosquitoes collected Sept. 12 in West Monroe. Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang reminds residents to continue to be proactive in protecting themselves against mosquitoes to avoid infection of mosquito-borne viruses.

Marching Buccaneer Pair Picked For Army All-American Marching Band

Only 125 musicians and color guard members from across the country are selected for this annual honor. Since 2008, the Army has selected a dozen OHS band members. On October 3, two more Oswego High School standouts, Cassandra Hondro and Emily King, will be honored as part of the 2014 U.S. Army All-American Marching Band.
