Jim Shampine Drive Re-Dedicated to local racing legend

Two brand new signs, each with two different pictures of Jim Shampine’s famous race car, were unveiled at both ends of the road named in his honor. Pathfinder Bank, Romey Caruso (whose family formerly owned the Oswego Speedway for decades), the current speedway owners, the city and others all pitched in to help replace the signs, according to Mike D’Amico who spearheaded the project.

July 2013 Was Slightly Warmer Than Average

spider fireworksIt wasn’t so much the hot humid days that pushed July’s average temperature above normal. It was the sultry nights, according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the national Weather Service. The average temperature last month was 73.0 degrees. That’s 2.2 degrees higher than average, Gregway said. One overnight low came in at 77 degrees.
