Oswego Committees To Meet Monday Night

A variety of topics are up for discussion at Monday night’s Oswego council committee meetings. At the Administrative Services Committee, Mayor Billy Barlow will ask that bids be sought for the following capital projects: General Contracting for building repairs to Safe Haven and the Theater Building located at Fort Ontario Building; Repairs to City Hall; and Street Restoration and widening to Munn Street.

Public Hearing Set On ‘Social Host’ Law

The tentative local law would make it unlawful for any person older than the age of 18 who owns, rents, or otherwise controls a private residence, to knowingly allow the consumption of alcohol, alcoholic beverages or illegal drugs by any minor (younger than the age of 21) on such premises or to fail to take reasonable corrective action upon learning of the consumption of alcohol, alcoholic beverages or use of illegal drugs by any minor on such premises.

Oswego Council Tweaks Winter Parking Policy

On a warm, muggy autumn evening, the Oswego Common Council was planning for the cold, snowy days of winter. At its meeting Tuesday, the council unanimously approved amendments to the Code of the City of Oswego, Chapter 257, Vehicles and Traffic, Section 257-27, Winter Parking Restrictions. The vote was 5-0-2 with councilors Linda DeMassi and John Gosek excused.

Teens Encouraged to Learn about ‘Molly,’ Help Combat Synthetic Drug Crisis

The VOW Foundation, Inc., will present an informational workshop for teens and parents to learn more about ‘Molly,’ a synthetic drug currently in circulation. The event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on October 10 in the training room of the Oswego County Health Department at 70 Bunner St. in Oswego. Participants are asked to enter through the main doors on the west side of the building.
