Street Closing Fee Proposed
At its next meeting, the Oswego Common Council will consider instituting a $150 fee for street closings. The requests usually are for times when the Traffic Division isn’t regularly scheduled to work. The proposed fee would reportedly cover the cost of the overtime.

Oswego Police: Beware Of Possible Scams
An elderly woman was going to send a large amount of money to a location in Jamaica via Western Union. Police were alerted when the store employee helping the woman suspected it might be a scam. In another incident, a victim said she had answered a job posting on Craiglist.com for a housekeeper. She had to send money to receive keys to the house where she was supposed to start her job.

Oswego Council To Consider Kan Jam Request
At this week’s meeting of the Physical Services Committee, councilors paved the way for a league for a new sport to take the field in Oswego this summer. The organizer requested use of space in Fort Ontario Park for an organized league in a recreational game called Kan Jam.
