Accompanied by their parents or guardians, groups of four-year-olds gathered in their respective elementary buildings of Lanigan, Fairgrieve, Volney and Granby to be introduced to a classroom environment.

Birdlebough High School senior Olivia Ripley’s dedication to her music studies recently garnered statewide recognition. She earned a perfect score on both her trumpet and voice auditions at last spring’s New York State School Music Association’s Solo Festival, and recently earned a spot in this year’s NYSSMA All-Conference Symphonic Band.

Students in the Phoenix Central School District were prepared with the necessary school supplies to begin the year, thanks to the Stuff-a-Bus campaign.

Expanding on her Fulton City School District career, Gina Salerno was recently named the new Granby Elementary School principal. With more than 16 years of experience in the school district, Salerno first began her FCSD career teaching kindergarten at Lanigan Elementary School before she taught grades three, five and one.

Broomsticks lined the entryway, welcoming Fulton City School District’s ninth graders into the magical place of G. Ray Bodley High School. They were welcomed by GRB Principal Donna Parkhurst, who played to the Harry Potter-themed day by wearing a wizard’s hat and utilizing a wand, with one clear message: the high school is a warm, fun place where they will achieve their best with a lot of hard work and perseverance.

Near silence and bare hallways accompanied Oswego High School’s ninth graders during their opening day of the 2018-19 school year.
