Twenty-three students earned honor graduate status, signifying that they had maintained an average of 90 or above for all four years of high school. These students will wear a medal during their graduation ceremony.
Students at Charles E. Riley Elementary competed in the annual school Olympics celebration, after they learned about the countries their classes represented.
Although school was not in session on May 28, nine Hannibal Central School District students and music teacher Jeff Sawyer combined efforts with local veterans’ organizations and service personnel for an annual Memorial Day ceremony.
The much-anticipated, fifth annual fabric sale fundraiser to support the Oswego County 4-H Program, part of Cornell Cooperative Extension, will be held on July 14 from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m. at the Believer’s Chapel, 5375 State Route 3, Mexico. The Oswego County 4-H Program is now accepting donations of fabric and other sewing items for the sale.
Plaques, scholarships and congratulatory remarks were well received during the Fulton Athletic Booster Club’s annual senior athlete recognition banquet, but they weren’t all of what the Class of 2018 athletes had strived to earn.
History has repeated itself for Mexico High School seniors Ashton Ariola and Angel Newcombe. While the pair was named the top two students of their eighth grade class at Mexico Middle School; four years later they also landed at the top of the Mexico High School Class of 2018 in their respective valedictorian and salutatorian posts.
Several students in grades nine through 12 were honored for exhibiting positive character education traits, excellence in academic classes, athletics, service to community, acts of kindness, overall improvement and leadership.

The combination of modesty, dedication and consistency has afforded Jacob Geitner and Madison Lang with the honor of being named the top two students of their graduating class. While the road hadn’t always come easy, valedictorian Geitner and salutatorian Lang had become laser-focused their junior year when they realized that honor was attainable.
The evening featured several instrumental accompaniments including senior band student Allison Pasco on the flute and piccolo and Oswego High School’s Principal, Patrick Wallace, on the tuba.
The annual Mexico Academic Award Ceremony recognized each class comprised of students who have earned honors distinction, outstanding student status, athletic accolades and special area recognition.
