You’re a freshman in high school, wake up for the day and your vision is gone. What do you do? That rhetorical situation for Mexico High School ninth graders was a reality for Fulton native Tim Conners who recently spoke with the students about having the choice to live life in the most positive way possible.
As the winter Olympics got under way in PyeongChang, South Korea, students in the Hannibal Central School District were hosting their own opening ceremony for the games.
Officiated by Principal Jennifer Granholm, a Q and a U played by representatives from each of the kindergarten classrooms, became forever united as they pledged their teamwork and lives together in order to create words.
Fulton Junior High School seventh grade students recently packed their bags and went off to college…for one day. The annual field trip, a collaboration of Fulton Community School, FJHS and Cayuga Community College, sought to provide the youngsters with an introduction to life beyond middle school.
Students will bring playwright Robert Frankel’s work to life through a suspenseful, musical journey with unique scenes as The Stargazer guides the audience through a small-town murder investigation, an interesting science project, a double-date adventure to a creepy house and a dream sequence.
The students, staff and home and school organization of Kingsford Park School pulled together again this year, with gifts of several generous donors, to provide a happy holiday for more than 40 families in need, as part of the annual Kingsford Park Holiday Giving Project.
They’ve put in the hours of hard work, endured the stresses and sacrifices, and now, moments away from the start of the race, these young competitors are eager to get going. It could be a scene from any of the venues at the XXIII Winter Olympic Games, currently under way in PyeongChang, South Korea, but for a view of world-class competitive spirit closer to home, look no further than Charles E. Riley Elementary School, where the main event is mathematics.
It was a numbers explosion at Fairley Elementary School this week as the school celebrated its 100th day of school with an entire day devoted to having fun while counting and learning.
One honoree from each classroom was selected to receive the Principal’s Award for their hard work and commitment to being a respectful, responsible and kind school citizen.
