Dozens of John C. Birdlebough High School students were recently lauded for their academic accomplishments and service during the quarterly Spark Awards assembly, and two seniors earned special recognition for their class rank.
For their efforts, the qualifying 78 freshmen, 55 sophomores, 46 juniors and 54 seniors were treated to a free lunch of walking tacos on Feb. 16.

The Sandy Creek Drama department will present “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” onstage March 9-10 with show times at 7 both nights. The story follows Charlie Bucket, played by Noah Reff, a sweet, unselfish, poor boy who has always been fascinated by the happenings at the factory.
