Oswego County Holds Highest Childhood Obesity Rate In State

Oswego County has the highest rate of childhood obesity in New York State and the adult obesity trends are higher county wide than state wide, according to the county health department. “In Oswego, 33.8 percent of adults are overweight or obese, compared to the New York state average of 24.6 percent,” said Senior Public Health Educator Diane Oldenburg.

Students in the Oswego City School District are continuing to find success and enhance their educational opportunities with expanded access to advanced courses as a result of a partnership with Cayuga Community College. NY Sea Grant, DEC Launch K-12 Great Lakes Ecosystem Education Exchange
