John C. Birdlebough High School students showered their teachers with appreciation for their commitment to students throughout the school year. Student Council President Sarah Hoag said the recent belated Teacher Appreciation Day ice cream social in the JCB cafeteria was held in honor of all of the sacrifices teachers make to help each student succeed.
Sarah Tallents, G. Ray Bodley High School junior, recently won the Oswego County Bar Association essay contest for her article on women’s rights and opportunities. Her work referenced the history of Hillary Clinton’s career.
Several Fairgrieve Elementary School students were recently recognized by school lunch monitors for exceeding expectations in the cafeteria. These students received the monthly Golden Spork Award and a “brag tag” to add to their collection for serving as role models to their peers.
Rose Donovan, Fairley Elementary School Nurse, has been named runner-up for a national school nurse award. The Fuel Up to Play 60 initiative is a national in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by the National Dairy Council and the NFL, in collaboration with the USDA, to encourage healthy living amongst youth.
