Michael A. Maroun Elementary School students were recently honored for exhibiting perseverance throughout the month of March. Honorees were commended for never giving up, always trying their best and working hard to improve academic and behavior goals.
The honor came during a Morning Express program as the student body, teachers and guests cheered and applauded for the outstanding students. Principal Jean Ciesla said the awardees continue to persevere, ask for help when needed, practice skills and work toward reaching their academic goals.
The state bird of New York, the Eastern bluebird, is America’s most beloved songbird and is one of the only birds that depends upon humans for housing. Come learn more about this wonderful bird and even build a nest box when ornithologist John Rogers presents Bluebirds with Mr. Rogers.
The students are involved in every step of the process from pouring the mold to smoothing, firing and then glazing the end product in the ceramics lab.

The Skaneateles Youth Hockey Association is excited to announce that Tryouts for the 18U Split Season State Bound Select Team will be held April 16 and 17 from 10 -11:30 a.m. at the Duke Schneider Ice Arena at the Skaneateles YMCA.
John C. Birdlebough High School students offered beautiful sounds and music during the culturally-infused Spring Choral Concert. Attendees were treated to performances by the concert chorus, chamber singers, and the Phoenix Firebirds Percussion Ensemble.
Second year cosmetology students at the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation have begun planning for their future. In the final quarter of their Career and Technical Education program, the cosmetology students will study business plans and develop one of their own.
Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oswego County is still accepting registrations into its Shooting Sports Program. This program is open to all girls and boys ages 12 to 19 who are interested in archery, rifle or a Shooting Sports Sampler.
