To shine a light on the Common Core and the math curriculum, the Fulton City School District recently held two informational programs for parents looking to learn more about the subject. An afternoon “lunch and learn” meeting and another session in the evening provided parents with a plethora of information on mathematics and how it is being taught in Fulton classrooms.

Wisdom Thinkers Network Meets at CiTi campus

Individuals from education, business and the community in Oswego County recently gathered at the Center for Instruction, Technology & Innovation’s Mexico campus to discuss ways to promote positive character development for students. Ralph Singh, CEO and chair of the Wisdom Thinkers Network and coordinator of the Inspire 14! Initiative, brought dozens of community leaders together to brainstorm ideas on how students can build and develop good character traits, while also developing the soft skills needed to succeed in the workplace.

Writer: Councilor Should Do More, Talk Less

I expect my elected representatives to offer mature, well-thought out solutions to serious problems. One such problem our city is facing is the winter parking policy. The recent press release by Councilor Bill Barlow falls far short of a solution. Public denouncements are easy. Getting things done takes real effort and thought and I find it difficult to take Councilor Barlow’s attention-seeking stunt seriously.

Physical Science Experiments Are Put To The Test

As third grade students at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School were studying physics and forces and motion in physical science recently, they decided to put their knowledge to a test. Teams of students were given a project to design and construct a catapult that would launch a marshmallow at a target.
