The Oswego Children’s Theater’s latest production “Shrek the Musical” will feature a much larger than usual sized character in the person of a life sized dragon. The vocal role of the dragon will be played by veteran actress Caroline Gray. The body of the beast however, will be portrayed by a full sized dragon puppet manipulated by other individuals.
Larry and Bobbi Martiniano of Fulton recently announced the engagement of their son, Mark Martiniano to Heidi Couture, daughter of Richard and Diana Couture of Farmington, NH.
The production features a huge cast of area youth including Doug Schneider in the role of Shrek, Leah Mullen as Fiona, Catrina Edwards as Donkey, Ryan Smith as Lord Farquad, and Caroline Gray as the Dragon.
Chairman Jim Rice of the Fulton City Democratic Committee is inviting everyone to a chicken BBQ at the Polish Home on July 13 from 11:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Presale dinners should be picked up by 1:30 p.m. The chicken dinners are being cooked by Fulton’s Fricken Chicken team of Denny Young and John Rebeor.
Hannibal Music Boosters is hosting its second annual golf tournament on July 13 at Griffin’s Greens. The tournament begins at 9 a.m. with a shotgun start. Dinner will follow the tournament at The Village Tavern in Hannibal.
The Phoenix Central School District, in conjunction with the Phoenix Firebirds Sports Booster Club, honored athletes from the Birdlebough Class of 2014. More than 50 seniors were recognized for their participation in interscholastic athletics and several distinguished awards and scholarships were presented.
Teaching staff recognized students for enthusiasm, effort and excellence in the following subject areas: math, science, English language arts, social studies, art, technology, family and consumer science, foreign language and band.

Oswego County STOP-DWI coordinator Robert Lighthall announced that Oswego County police agencies will participate in a special enforcement effort to crackdown on impaired driving. The statewide STOP-DWI Crackdown efforts start on July 3 and will end on July 7.
