The lingering icy cold early spring weather contributed to the large formation of ice on the Great Lakes, including Lake Ontario. It may be “cool to look at,” college officials say, but they warn it is very dangerous to walk on. The ice coverage has also contributed to the starvation of thousands of winter birds.
The Granby Elementary School community united for a charitable cause Friday night as the gymnasium and cafeteria were bustling with activities during an indoor carnival. The event, which benefited Make-A-Wish of Central New York, featured bounce houses, carnival games, a photo booth and food.
Seven students from the Pulaski School District received awards during the 19th Annual Oswego County Student Art Show and Competition at the Salmon River Fine Arts Center on April 6. The art show and competition featured works from students across Oswego County.

Looking to recognize students for their positive behavior in the classroom, Granby Elementary School teachers and administrators held a celebration Friday afternoon with a variety of activities for the students.
In January, students in the club and advisers Carl Nylen, Tom Pullen and Jamie Hefti talked about producing maple syrup that they could sell to help fund some of the club’s projects for the coming year.
But they didn’t want to simply produce maple syrup the old fashioned way.
“We take this opportunity to acknowledge the tremendous contributions those in the nursing profession make throughout our community, and most certainly here at St. Luke,” said Theresa Makin, director of nursing.
The Oswego Children’s Theater is looking for many more than a few good actors to participate in its upcoming production of “Shrek the Musical.” Auditions are scheduled for May 13 from 5 – 8 p.m. and May 16 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the New Haven Congregational Church, Route 104 east between Oswego and Mexico.
