The G. Ray Bodley High School’s annual Bodley Sweet Boutique will be open for business on April 3 – 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. and on April 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the high school cafeteria. The boutique will have brand new and gently worn formal and semi-formal dresses for sale for only $25 each,
Volney Elementary School students attended a spirit assembly March 28 in recognition of their positive behavior and for being role models. Principal Lisa Garofalo gave certificates to one student from each classroom that exemplified the character trait of perseverance.
Seniors in the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown (APW) Central School District got to experience what it means to walk a mile in someone else’s shoes. Sixteen students swapped places with an APW staff member for one entire school day, taking on such roles as teacher, administrator, support staff, transportation supervisor, library media specialist, and more.
The New York State Public High School Athletic Association has recognized the seven varsity winter athletic teams in the Fulton City School District. To receive the NYSPHSAA’s scholar distinction the team average must be 90
percent or higher during the season.
For the eighth time in his 17 years of teaching in the Phoenix Central School District, Matt Wieczorek is sporting a shaved head in support of childhood cancer research. The fourth-grade teacher has been participating in the annual St. Baldrick’s Day fundraiser for nearly a decade to help fund life-saving studies in childhood cancer treatment.
Oswego County BOCES students at the Fourth Street School in Fulton and enrolled in the Stepping Stones Day Program recently participated in a “Hoops For Heart” American Heart Association fundraising challenge. In preparation for the event, students learned about heart disease, preventative activities and about community service.
Sandy Creek Elementary School recently held its annual Family Reading Night. The evening event included dinner, games, reading theater and other reading-related projects and activities for the entire family.
A concert in support of Steven Maynard’s upcoming study at the Bel Canto Institute in Florence, Italy, will showcase talented individuals and groups on April 11 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Pulaski High School auditorium. A suggested donation of $3 is asked for admission, but is not required.
Students in Mary Ryan’s Exceptional Education classroom took a field trip recently to Beaver Lake Nature Center and snowshoed with a naturalist to a sugar bush. The naturalist took students through the history of sugaring, the process of photosynthesis and how sap is created.
