Many adults might remember taking a keyboard or word processing class in middle school or even high school. The times have changed, the world has changed, and how school districts, including Altmar-Parish-Williamstown, are preparing 21st century students for college and a career has changed. Students as young as second grade at APW Elementary School receive Computer Technology Education as part of their regular instruction.
The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Central School District and the APW Elementary School Parent-Teacher-Student Association, in conjunction with the United Way of Greater Oswego County, is once again gearing up for the Stuff-A-Bus Program.
Students earning Gold Star distinction have a quarterly grade point average of 90 or higher with no incompletes or failing grades. Students earning Silver Star distinction have a quarterly grade point average of 85 to 89.99 with no incompletes or failing grades.
Jared Campbell returned to the Hannibal School District recently, this time swinging by Fairley Elementary for a musical presentation on bullying. The Upstate New York musician captivates his student audience by singing songs he’s written about his own life, and getting them involved in the stories and lyrics.
Dr. Jim Steenburgh, from the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Utah, along with other colleagues from several universities across the country joined with members of the Center for Severe Weather Research to study the unique aspects of lake effect in our region.
John C. Birdlebough senior Alyssa Harley is making a splash with the Fulton varsity swim team this year. On Saturday, the standout athlete from Phoenix was selected as the female swimmer of the meet during 16th annual HAC Swim Invitational held at the Harley School in Rochester.
