A tractor trailer, a 2009 International Pro-Star, has been purchased for Oswego County BOCES CDL-A training program. The truck comes from St. Louis, Mo., and according to CDL A and B class Room and Road Instructor Kenneth Koegel, it meets the needs of the course and the trucking industry today.
SUNY Oswego President Deborah F. Stanley announced today (Jan. 17) that the college has received the largest single gift in its 153-year history: a $7.5 million gift from the estate of Oswego County resident Lorraine E. Marano, an education enthusiast.
The H. Lee White Maritime Museum is celebrating the 80th anniversary of the opening of the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse this year. A Lighthouse Events Committee has been formed to work on several activities. The Museum Lighthouse Committee will be holding a planning meeting on January 26 at 2:30 p.m. Interested members of the community are invited to attend this meeting.

The Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Chapter of the National Junior Honor Society coordinated a community service project that generated more than a half-ton of shelf-stable food donations for local food pantries in the school district’s communities. Donations were collected by homeroom and the homerooms with the most donations, in net weight, were treated to a donut party.
