Fulton students showcase skills at talent show, raise money for charitable causes

Twenty-one acts took center stage at G.Ray Bodley High School’s annual talent show.
Similar to the format of the television show, America’s Got Talent, Bodley’s Got Talent featured a diverse blend of performances that included bands, instrument solos, dancers, duets and singers.

Teachers Dan Mainville, Ami LaDuc and Assistant Principal Will Greene served as judges for the showcase, presenting a first, second and third place award at the show’s conclusion.

Capturing the third place award were Justina Race, Kylie Jacklett and Stephen Heywood for their performance of “She Falls Asleep” by McFly’s lead singer Tom Fletcher. The two-part song was sung by Race and Heywood, accompanied by Jacklett on piano.

Honored with the second place award was the Irish step dance duo of Angela Paul and Ashley Grey, who have danced together for the last eight years.

First place was awarded to MyKenzie Finch who sang “Skinny Love” by Birdy.

“The only bad thing is that it ended,” said LaDuc in her onstage critique of Finch.

In addition, the following special recognition awards were presented: Audience Favorite was a tie between Neal Burke for his rendition of “Friend Like Me” from the Disney classic Aladin and guitar soloist Justin Purtell.

Most Unique Act went to Scott DePuy for his improvised drum solo.

HOPE Club (Helping Other People Everywhere) sponsored this year’s Bodley’s Got Talent, donating all proceeds from the event to ARISE, Make-A-Wish Foundation and Volunteer For Peace.

Ticket sales and donations totaled nearly $2,000.
