Sweet Treats and Holiday Cheer

Life for some local residents just got a little bit sweeter and merrier this holiday season thanks in part to the Exceptional Education students at BOCES. The ‘sweet’ part was a fun project that was coordinated with the Culinary Arts Career and Technical Education Program at OCB. The ‘merry’ part was a Christmas caroling field trip to the Ladies Home of Oswego, St. Luke Health Services and The Manor at Seneca Hill.

Port of Oswego Appoints New Executive Director

The Port of Oswego Authority has announced the appointment of Zelko N. Kirincich to the position of Executive Director.  He will begin his new position on January 6, 2014. Mr. Kirincich comes from the Port Authority of Tampa, Florida, where he worked from 1996-2013.  He most recently served there as Deputy Port Director and Chief Operating Officer.

Granby Elementary Students Bring Christmas to Fulton Mill Apartment Residents

Residents of the Fulton Mill Apartments recently gathered in their community room to hear first graders at Granby Elementary sing traditional Christmas Carols. Students sang Santa Claus is Coming to Town, Jingle Bells and We Wish You a Merry Christmas with the help of their teachers.

War of 1812 Bicentennial Commemoration Continues in the Port City

A new interpretive panel of the U.S. Brig Oneida, part of the history-themed Great Lakes Seaway Trail Outdoor Storyteller sign series, was unveiled recently at the north end of Riverwalk West in West Linear Park. The location gives visitors the opportunity to envision this significant part of Oswego’s history in the War of 1812.
