Family, friends, residents and staff of Michaud Residential Health Services gathered recently to take part in an inter-faith Memorial Service held in honor of residents who have passed away over the course of the previous year.
This year the annual Port of Oswego Chapter of Ducks Unlimited fund raising banquet/auction will be held on November 6. Ducks Unlimited is the World’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to conserving North America’s continuing disappearing waterfowl habitats. The cost to restore one acre of wetlands increases yearly. The DU banquet/auction raises money to preserve wetlands in the US, Canada and Mexico.
Two Oswego Middle School students were accepted into Junior High Area All State Orchestra and Band. Leanna Restani and Allison Pasco will perform at Cortland Junior/Senior High School this weekend. The students were given very demanding music to learn and will join with guest conductors of the highest caliber this weekend (November 1-2).
A small group of Oswego County representatives recently met with their counterparts in Wyoming County to discuss land-based wind energy. Information from this trip will help guide county leaders should wind power become a consideration in their efforts to help protect the environment and reduce energy costs to taxpayers.

Oswego crossing guard Keri West got in the mood for Halloween as she dressed for her duty. With the inclement weather it probably helped motorists see her more clearly as she assisted Frederick Leighton Elementary School students.
As the end of the Oswego Players’ very successful 75th Anniversary Season draws near, it seems appropriate to give credit to those who work so hard behind the scenes to support the work of the director and actors in a show. These are the people who never get a rest. As soon as one show hits the boards, they are working on the set design and implementation for the next one.
Two SUNY Oswego students will join six others from across the State University system as Student Fellows to work over the next year helping shape the 64-campus system’s use of big data, SUNY Chancellor Nancy L. Zimpher announced Oct. 29.

Halloween came early at the Kingsford Park Elementary School as the annual “Spooktacular” was held. Students donned their Halloween costumes and spent an evening trekking throughout the building enjoying books.
