The Salmon River International Sport Fishing Museum near Pulaski will celebrate its 10th year anniversary on October 5 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a special ceremony and a presentation at 1 p.m. about the past, current and future events of the museum.
Commander Peter Robson, with the Challenger Learning Center in Rochester, was recently welcomed back for a second time to Granby Elementary School. Robson began his presentation with showing third graders a video of the Space Shuttle Atlantis launch, the last of NASA’s space planes to retire.
Local author Susan Peterson Gateley will be the guest speaker at final history lecture of the 2013 season at the H. Lee White Museum and Maritime Center. Her topic, “Maritime Tales of Lake Ontario,” will be free to the public at the museum on October 12 at 1:30 p.m.
The September 24 meeting of the Oswego City School District Board of Education was relatively routine. Prior to the beginning of the public portion of the meeting the board conducted a moment of silence for district employees who have recently passed away.

With more than 60 families on the waiting list, ARISE will continue to build ramps for as long as the weather permits. However, in order to help as many families as possible before the end of the year, more volunteers are needed.
Students enrolled in the Oswego County BOCES New Vision Law and Government and Allied Health class got insight into political life with a visit to their classroom from Senator Patty Ritchie. SUNY Oswego provides classroom space in Sheldon Hall for the New Visions program.
The New York State Education Department recently announced that Sandy Creek High School has been designated as a Reward School. The only school in Oswego County to receive this recognition, and one of only a handful of schools in the Central New York region, Sandy Creek High School was selected based on its significant progress in several areas and their and the highest achievement in the state with no significant gaps in student achievement.
