North Carolina Fugitive Arrested In Fulton

Fulton Police arrested a fugitive wanted out of the State of North Carolina over the weekend. On Saturday police stopped a vehicle for failure to signal a turn and for an inadequate muffler violation. The operator of the vehicle was found to be Michael  Digregorio. A check of his license found that there were three warrants being held against him from North Carolina.

Arrests Made in Larceny From Former Nestles Plant

THIS JUST IN:  Fulton Police arrested two subjects attempting to steal scrap metal from the former Nestle building located at 555 S. Fourth St. in Fulton. Officers were aware of the activity after receiving a report the previous evening that someone had stolen a large amount of copper pipe from the property. On Friday at about 12:15 a.m., officers located two men inside a fenced in area on the property. Through the investigation, it was found that the two men were allegedly attempting to steal scrap copper pipe from large pieces of machinery that remain on the property.

Pulaski peer leaders ease transition for sixth graders

A special orientation time was coordinated on the first day of school where students were matched with high school student peer leaders who took students on a tour of the building, helped them find their classrooms, practice lockers and decipher their schedules as well as help with ice breaker activities to get to know each other in home rooms.

SUNY Oswego secures $1.2M to draw STEM students, workers to teaching

The National Science Foundation has awarded SUNY Oswego a five-year, $1.2 million grant for a scholarship program to help create a pipeline of science, technology, engineering and math teachers for high-need school districts. Oswego’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and the School of Education worked together on the “Full STEM” grant and will collaborate to launch the science foundation’s Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program at Oswego this spring.

Oswego School Board Recognizes OHS Grads; Superintendent Search Continues

Prior to the start of the regular meeting BOCES District Superintendent Christopher Todd provided an update on the search for a new Oswego Superintendent of Schools. The deadline for applications was August 30. He noted that the goal is to have a new superintendent in place by January 1, 2014.
