Staff at Michaud Residential Health Services in Fulton held a benefit recently on behalf of the Fulton Salvation Army, with donations earmarked to help purchase food and supplies for the Salvation Army’s food pantry.
According to District Superintendent Donna J. Fountain, the Hannibal Central School district is enthusiastically beginning a strategic planning process designed to create specific goals and strategies that will guide the district over the next five years. The strategic plan will consist of a core team of approximately 30 members with representation from parents, staff, administrators and members of the community.
Bowen’s Corners United Methodist Church is organizing its annual Fall Rummage Sale and Bake Sale. The event will be held September 6 and 7 at the church which is located at 758 State Route 176, just west of Fulton. Hours are 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. each day.
During the month of June 2013 the Oswego City Police Departments Anti- Crime Team (ACT) began an investigation into the alleged possession and sales of marihuana occurring in the public areas around East Bridge St and East 9th St. Oswego.
Dan Mahaney has announced his intention to seek another term as Highway Superintendent for the Town of Hannibal. Mahaney’s mission has been to improve upon the safety of the town’s 56 miles of highways, while staying within the limits of a strict budget during tough economic times and obtaining grants to help offset taxpayers’ expense.
Kurt Ospelt, the County Highway Superintendent, signs a contract for a sandpit with Jack Beckwith, a former County Legislator, without any of the other County Legislators knowing about it. They got their mining permit from NY DEC. The County then builds a road on Jack Beckwith’s property, which is private property, to get to the sandpit.
The Oswego County Health Department joined with OCO Rural Health Network of Oswego County to present a six-week program for those managing chronic disease. The Chronic Disease Self-Management Program was developed by Stanford University Patient Education Research Center and promoted nationwide as an evidence-based program.
Two mosquito pools tested positive for EEE, one in the village of Central Square and the other in the town of West Monroe. Both sites are part of the target area that was sprayed last weekend. Sandy Creek Central School District students heading back to school in September will see some new faces at the elementary, middle and high school. The district welcomed this summer new teaching staff members John DeGone, Elise Lofaro, and Marissa Paquin.
The Sandy Creek Central School District in cooperation with the United Way and with the support of donations from community members, businesses and the Salvation Army Red Kettle Campaign helped 89 students in the community get ‘geared up’ for the school year.
