St. Luke Residents Put Finishing Touch On Older Americans Month With A Celebration Of Art

Residents created an impromptu art gallery at their residence to display a wide variety of works they created. Arts and crafts included works in a variety of mediums including watercolor paintings, decorative wreaths, acrylic paintings, completed jigsaw puzzles, photography, handmade dolls and quilts, to name only a few.

Final OCAY League competition takes flight

Titled “Fight and Flight,” the fourth and final Oswego County Academic Youth League competition was set in an historic venue. Located at Oswego’s historic Fort Ontario, the competition featured two main tasks, each executed in two different ways. The first task involved the construction of two kites, one focused on performance and functionality, and the other on aesthetics.

Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church History Day Planned

Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church will dedicate its newly restored sanctuary and fellowship hall during its 11 a.m. service on June 9. There will be no 8:30 service. Following the service, the church History Committee will host a display of pictures, memorabilia and books  on the history of the church from its founding in 1870 to present.

FOR Club’s kindness helps four-legged friends at local animal shelter

Fulton Junior High School's Friends of Rachel club members with their donations to a local animal shelter.The Fulton Junior High School’s Friends of Rachel (FOR) club recently collected much-needed items for the Oswego County SPCA and their four-legged friends. Some of the members are pictured here with the donations that included kitty litter, food, toys, blankets and other supplies for dogs and cats at the local animal shelter.

Top storytellers take the stage in Fulton

The top storytellers from each elementary school in the Fulton City School District were honored last week at a district-wide storytelling festival at the Fulton Education Center. Participants shared folklores, fairytales, legends and fables which ranged from spooky to downright hysterical. Many even included a useful moral lesson that provided a bit of advice to audience members.

State Police investigate fatal motorcycle crash in Town of Schroeppel

On Wednesday at 1:45 p.m., troopers responded to the area of 1121 County Route 57 in Schroeppel for a serious personal injury collision involving a Ford F350 pickup truck and a motorcycle. The investigation at the scene determined that a northbound motorcycle operated by Douglas M. West, of Baldwinsville, attempted to pass a northbound pickup truck operated by Rory G. Ingoldby, 12/24/68, of Phoenix.

Free Shuttle Bus Service Announced for Hope Fest 2013

Hope Fest 2013 is fast approaching, with three evenings of Christian outreach at the Fulton War Memorial June 7, 8 and 9. To help those without transportation, and also for those who do not want to have to park far away, the Hope Fest Committee is partnering with Oswego County Opportunities to provide free shuttle bus service each night.
