Oswego High School students and parents filled the Sheldon Hall ballroom at SUNY Oswego April 17 for College Information Night. This presentation was brought to the community by the Oswego High School counselors in conjunction with Daniel Griffin, Associate Dean of Admissions at SUNY Oswego.
The group of 21 staff, students, and chaperones visited such notable sights as Windsor Castle, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, Stonehenge, the Tower of London, and even the sights in London associated with the Harry Potter book series.
The new inductees include: eighth graders Bridgette Anderson, Alyssa Fiegl, and Lainey Smith; and seventh graders Faith Bachar, Joshua Balcom, Christopher Blount, David Hennigan, Emily Kehoe, Seth Lurcock, Oren McDougal, Carley Stoker, Machela Sullivan, and Sullivan Worns.
Students in Susan Gafner’s sixth grade class connected via distance learning with a school from Alberta Canada to celebrate Read Around the Planet. The Sandy Creek students, using a format similar to the “Minute to Win It” game show, asked the Canada class questions related to reading and comprehension, all while performing a physical task.
Students in the Sandy Creek Central School District put their literary knowledge to the test for a chance to be crowned Battle of the Books champion, and represent their district in the county-wide competition to be held May 1 at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown High School.
The health fair featured exhibits and demonstrations focusing on health, wellness, recreation and safety. The event was sponsored by the Sandy Creek Central School District and the Sandy Creek School Based Health Center.
Sandy Creek Middle School Student Council members Alex Paschall, Emily Smith, Brianna Snyder, Faith Bachar, Makenzie Lococo, Taila Hatch, Emily Kehoe, Nicky Radford, Abbey Fitzpatrick, Esther Brafman, Timothy Snell, Morgan Bristol, Riley MacDuffie and Haylie Roberts created approximately 60 “chemo care packages.”
It’s sad but true. Following major disasters and tragedies, scam artists impersonate charities to steal money or get private information from well-intentioned taxpayers. Fraudulent schemes involve solicitations by phone, social media, email or in-person. Scam artists use a variety of tactics. Some operate bogus charities that contact people by telephone to solicit money or financial information.
On May 21, Mexico Academy and Central School District voters will decide on a $21,090,076 capital project referendum – a plan to address health and safety improvements at the district’s five school buildings, bus garage, and athletic complex.
