Fulton Police Department identifies driver in 1968 fatal Hit and Run Investigation

Oswego County resident Douglas Parkhurst age 62 has been identified as the operator of a 1962 tan Buick Special that struck 4 year old Carolee Ashby Halloween night 1968. Ashby was struck as she crossed, what is now known as State Route 481 at Division Street in the City of Fulton, with her sister and cousin. Due to the expiration of the Statute of Limitations no charges will be filed in this matter. The following is an overview of events surrounding the accident.

Pacesetter Award Winners for 2012 Navigation Season Announced

The Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation announced that eight ports, including Oswego, are receiving the prestigious Robert J. Lewis Pacesetter Award for registering increases in international cargo tonnage shipped through their ports during the 2012 navigation season compared to the previous year.

Volney classes experience colonial life

Volney Elementary School fourth grade classes were treated to a special guest visitor recently. Linda Russell from the New York Council for the Humanities presented a special speaker in the schools presentation all about colonial life. The students are studying the colonial period as part of the fourth grade social studies curriculum.
