During these dry weeks some of us took advantage of the opportunity to search local graveyards for “lost stones” that are more readily found in dry periods when the sod above them brown first. Trustee Margaret Kastler had the most significant discovery while poking around Noyes cemetery. She found a long-lost stone that caused us quite a stir as we tried to figure it out.
Chad M. Kelly, 30 of Fulton, died on Monday, July 23, 2012,at Al Udeid Air Base, Doha, Qatar. A native of Fulton, he had been stationed at Ft. Bragg in Fayetteville, NC.
On Sunday at approximately 4:09 p.m. members of the Oswego City Police Department arrested Ciara L. Martin, 26, of 1812 County Route 45 Fulton. Martin was found to be in knowing and unlawful possession of 240 Oxycodone tablets having a total weight of 4.445 ounces, police said.
The Oswego City Firefighters Association will host a chicken barbecue benefit for Julian Ross on Saturday. Julian was diagnosed on August 4, 2011, and since then has had multiple surgeries, chemotherapy treatments, bone marrow aspirations, scans, transfusions and blood draws.
21-year-old Bryant S. Scharf, of Oswego, was arrested by Oswego Police and charged with Assault in the Third Degree for his alleged involvement in the incident. Oswego City Police are still asking for the public’s assistance in identifying all of the responsible persons.
The Oswego City Police Department would like the public to be on the look out for 21-year-old Jessica Elmer. She’s approximately 5’6” and 220 pounds with brown hair, and brown eyes. She was last seen July 24 walking on East Utica Street in Oswego wearing an Orange “SU” shirt, black pants, and black/white Adidas sneakers.

At approximately 2:40 a.m. July 28 officers responded to the area of West Bridge Street between West Seventh Street and West eight Street for a reported fight. Upon arrival officers discovered that two victims had been assaulted by a large group of males.
One of the victims is currently being treated for serious head trauma.
National Grid is urging customers in its upstate New York service areas to stay safe during the unstable weather forecasted across the area later today. The company is prepared to respond to any storms that may occur. The company is readying extra crews and is prepared to activate its storm operations centers across the region in case the storms cause significant outages.
