BREWERTON, NY (By Dave Medler) – Some announcements to clear up the rumor mills about the Brewerton and Fulton Speedways in 2011 and where the classes and tracks are heading.
The most asked question has been about the DIRTcar Big Block Modifieds and the purse structure. At Brewerton Speedway the purse structure will remain the same with $2,000 going to the winner weekly except for special shows. At the Fulton Speedway their purse structure will be in line with what World Racing Group (DIRTcar Northeast) has for their weekly sanctioned Big Block Modified tracks.
There have been many phone calls and much interest in the new 525 Crate Small Block class as a way to move up or get back involved in racing for teams and drivers. John Wight and Harvey Fink will be meeting with GM representatives at the PRI show in Orlando December 9-11 to get a better handle on what direction to move forward at Fulton Speedway.
Another falsehood that has been making the rounds is about the Sportsman class at Fulton Speedway and the lowering of the purse. That is totally false; there will be no change in one of Fulton Speedways most successful divisions.
In 2011 Brewerton Speedway is committed to speeding up the shows to get its loyal fans on their way home in a reasonable time frame. First and foremost shows will start right at 7:30 p.m. unless weather is an issue on start times. Other steps will be put in place from on track racing action from causing to many yellows and maybe even rotating a class each week if need be. Harvey Fink said very adamantly, “11:00 – 11:15 shows will stop next season.”
The Late Models will return at both tracks in 2011 and continue to grow. As of this writing more than a handful of new Late Model teams have bought equipment for the new race season. Wight and Fink will also be meeting with tire companies in Orlando to decide what direction to go with tires.
Mod Lites will be returning to the Brewerton Speedway in a class that brings around 30 cars a week. Soon speedway officials will be meeting with Mod Lite teams maybe adding more events in 2011 at Fulton Speedway.
At Fulton Speedway the Gladiators are still on the table for discussion with their future to be decided in the near future. Novice Sportsman will once again be returning to the Fulton High Banks next season.
The Fulton and Brewerton Speedway banquet and awards is in the works with a date to be announced soon. The Modified loyalty program will be paid in full for the 2010 season.
