On April 28 the Oswego Players, in collaboration with Theatre Du Jour, will present David Javerbaum’s comedy “An Act of God” as the second production of its 80th anniversary season. The play takes a satirical view of what it might be like if God and His Archangels reappeared in the 21st Century to amend the Ten Commandments.
Oswego County Opportunities honored its volunteers of the year at the agency’s annual meeting held recently at Springside at Seneca Hill. Longtime volunteer Kevin Lord received the agency’s prestigious Howard Wilcox Volunteer of the Year Award.

Cayuga Community College’s Nursing Program remains one of the best programs training registered nurses in New York State, according to an online nursing advocacy organization. In comprehensive rankings released Monday by RegisteredNursing.org, Cayuga’s Nursing Program received a score of 98.77 percent, placing it third on the list of programs across New York State.

SUNY Oswego alumna Dr. Hilary McManus will return to campus to discuss her role in a global initiative for women in science and her February journey to Antarctica at 6:15 p.m. Thursday, April 26. The lecture in Room 175 of the Shineman Center, part of the college’s Feinberg Lecture Series, is free and open to the public. Parking will be available in Lot 8, along Washington Boulevard in front of the Shineman Center.
Senate Agriculture Committee chair Patty Ritchie is announcing that the new state budget includes $5 million for upgrades to county and youth fairs to attract more visitors, enhance agriculture education and support local economies.
SUNY Oswego will convene three ceremonies to honor its class of 2018 at the college’s 157th Commencement on Saturday, May 12, in the Marano Campus Center. Accomplished alumni will serve as the keynote speaker at each of the ceremonies.
“Made in NY,” a highly competitive annual juried show featuring contemporary artists who live and work in New York State, opens Friday, April 20, at the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn. Among the artists included in the show are two from the Oswego area.
