Arty Camp 2018 Plans For Growth

CNY Arts Center bids goodbye to 2017 with plans for Arty Camp 2018 already under way. The annual summer art camp enjoyed a new space located in the Arts Center on the Cayuga College Fulton Campus and continued support from the community for art and theatre classes. Arty Camp 2018 will offer new art mediums in a shorter four-week camp experience including both visual studio arts and performing arts.

SUNY Oswego Awards Inaugural Marano Scholarships To First-Generation Students

SUNY Oswego this fall awarded the inaugural Nunzio “Nick” C. and Lorraine E. Marano Scholarships, easing the financial burdens of 62 first-generation college students. Lorraine Marano, who died Oct. 1, 2013, made a historic bequest of $7.5 million to the college on her and her late husband’s behalf.

Student Producer Readies ‘Dracula’ For College Lab Theatre

SUNY Oswego theatre major Nova Grayson Casillo chose an ambitious senior honors thesis, a project with some serious bite: producing and designing the Steven Dietz adaptation of “Dracula.” Opening at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 15, and running at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, all performances are in Tyler Hall’s lab theatre, where Casillo says he plans to deliver an immersive experience for fans of the seductive thriller.

Phoenix Marching Band Defends State Title

Coming off a championship season in 2016, the Phoenix Central School District’s marching band had high expectations going into this year, and their final performance at the Carrier Dome did not disappoint. The Firebird contingent, under the direction of Nick Gerling and assistant director Michelle Rudy, cruised to a state title in the Small Schools 2 Class to cap off a stellar fall season.
