Author, performer and feminist Lindy West will speak about her memoir, “Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman,” in a free public appearance at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, in SUNY Oswego’s Sheldon Hall ballroom. “Shrill,” the 2017 Oswego Reading Initiative selection at the college, visits issues of gender inequality, body shaming and Internet harassment, by striving to inject humor.

WBUC Prepares Next Generation Of Film, Television Creators

Minutes before showtime, Tyler Dohse, station manager at Oswego High School’s WBUC, has his hands full. An interview subject has bailed at the last moment, throwing off a planned segment. The sports anchor is working through a proposed tagline to end his broadcast. Scripts are being loaded into the teleprompter. Dohse has one last quick chat with his on-air talent then sits down just out of view of the three cameras pointed at the news desk.

Bright lights, smooth textures and serene scenes are a few of the highlights in the new Sensory Rooms for students with autism or autistic tendencies at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation. Shannon Babbie, CiTi coordinator of student programs, said the rooms are designed to help provide a focus or calming environment to that specific population of students.
