Stained glass artist Cathy Pence is being featured as Artist of the Month for August at the Riverside Artisans Cooperative. According to Pence, “Working with art glass offers me unlimited opportunities for creating designs. I make stained glass panels as large as windows and as small as sun catchers that accent a window.”
Oswego Health welcomes Orthopedic Surgeon Glenn Axelrod, of Syracuse Orthopedic Specialists, who will begin providing surgery and office visits at the health system’s Oswego Health Services Center. Dr. Axelrod is a well-known, board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, joint replacements, arthroscopic and open shoulder surgery and general orthopedics.

However, at the end of the school day, 11.3 million kids head to homes where they are unsupervised form 3 to 6 p.m. according to Afterschool Alliance, a nonprofit public awareness organization.

The Opioid crisis has contributed to the overdose death rates and suicide rates skyrocketing in Oswego County. Families and friends are in a unique position to help their loved ones through their addiction recovery and could benefit from additional resources to help.
In 2012, Richard and Roxane Thormann of Williamstown stepped in to volunteer when the team’s teacher advisor retired in 2012 without a replacement, making them the first and only parent advisors to an Oswego County Envirothon team.
The Sandy Creek Central School District is looking to stock the Comet’s Closet before a major clothing giveaway which is scheduled to coincide with the school supply distribution event on August 21. There is an especially high need for children and teen clothing.
Sen. Patty Ritchie and Assemblyman Will Barclay will host an informational meeting together with Neighbors of Watertown on the Lake Ontario Flood Recovery Program on Aug. 15 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. at the Mexico Middle School Auditorium, 16 Fravor Road, Mexico. Representatives from the U.S Army Corps of Engineers, the Department of Environmental Conservation, the State Attorney General’s office and the Empire State Development office will also be at the meeting.
Seymour Krelbourn (played by Nate Deavers – center) has discovered a strange and unusual plant, unlike anything ever seen before. The story of Seymour and his unusual plant is featured in the popular Broadway musical Little Shop of Horrors, which will be presented by Quirk’s Players of G. Ray Bodley High School this weekend and next.
Fulton Jazz Fest information was presented to the Fulton Sunrise Rotary Club by Jan and Tony Rebeor. The Fulton Jazz Fest brings three nights, August 10, 11 and 12, of amazing music, great food and good times.
CNY Arts Center announces a Monotype, Monoprint workshop has been scheduled with Artist Bill DeMott August 20 from 6:30 – 9 p.m. at 11 River Glen Drive on the Cayuga College Fulton Campus. The workshop will cover zinc-plate monotypes, collagraph monoprints and examples of screen-print monotypes.
