The Richard S. Shineman Foundation, a catalyst for change in Oswego County, has made a generous “champion” pledge of $50,000 to the Campaign to Save Whiskey Island and Northern Great Bear.
The Minetto United Methodist Church will host a free dinner on May 21, serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will be ham, mashed potatoes, vegetable, bread, and dessert. Donations are not expected but will be accepted.
Elmira College released its Dean’s List for Academic Achievement for the winter 2017 term. The Dean’s List recognizes students that have a grade point average of 3.6 or higher.

Last week, I discovered four tiny kitten in my garage on one of those sunny days. I picked them up, brought them inside and called the Humane Society. They asked me a few questions, then they told me not to try to feed them and to return them to exactly where I found them and wait a few hours to see if the mother came back.

Incoming freshmen and their parents gathered in the Lockwood Auditorium for the annual transition night, which is designed to give students the knowledge and tools needed for a smooth transition from middle school to high school.
