Half-Shire Historical Society News – April 7, 2017

We had a late start to our annual winter building remodeling work. However, the work is continuing at a brisk pace and we expect to be back in full operation by mid-April. Each year we normally choose a project in December and utilizing the Oswego County Sheriff’s work release program, as well as our own volunteers, focus for six or seven weeks. Due to the refueling outage at the FitzPatrick plant in Scriba during January and February, our normal contingent of Entergy volunteers was curtailed in their contributions to this effort. Since then through March we have made up for lost time.

United Way Brings ‘Stone Soup Too’ Luncheon to Fulton

United Way of Greater Oswego County will hold its annual Stone Soup Too community luncheon April 11 from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Hosted by Holy Trinity Parish, 309 Buffalo St., the luncheon helps raise awareness of hunger in Oswego County and encouraging the community to help fill the shelves of local food pantries.

Shineman Foundation Donates $250,000 To Launch Catholic Charities’ Capital Campaign

The Richard S. Shineman Foundation has donated $250,000 to Catholic Charities of Oswego County. The donation will go directly toward the renovation of CCOC’s new location, the former Cayuga Community College and Center for Instruction Technology and Innovation site on West Broadway.
