Every Halloween, children across the United States carry around orange boxes when they go trick-or-treating. Instead of just asking for candy, they also collect money for the United Nations Children’s Fund. The group uses the money to provide medicine, clean water and other resources to children in need worldwide.

Teacher Michael Burke and about 15 students in the Project Explore Program, an alternative education component of the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation, have been trained and are now producing quality work with a new Melco embroidery machine.

There will be a benefit dinner at the Minetto United Methodist Church on December 4 from noon to 4 p.m. for the Fellows-Barnhart family of Granby.

Two programs at the Center for Instruction, Technology and Innovation recently showcased the importance of collaboration while working together on a project to honor law enforcement and firefighters.

Outstanding scholars were recognized in a special honors banquet held at Pulaski High School to commend those students who maintained a 95 or better average for the entire school year last year.

At a recent Fulton Sunrise Rotary meeting, Rotarian Mike DeLorme introduced Theresa Wilkins, executive director of the Pregnancy Care Center of Oswego County.

Thi Huynh, who plays Virginia O’Hanlon in the upcoming Oswego Players’ production of “Yes Virginia, There Is A Santa Claus,” welcomes theater-goers to the Frances Marion Brown Theater in the Oswego Civic Arts Center. She is reminding them to bring a toy for Toys For Tots.

In a heartfelt and emotional tribute, the students and staff at Altmar-Parish-Williamstown Elementary School honored those who have served their country in the armed forces during a special Veterans’ Day assembly at the school.

The annual event is planned and organized by the APW Student Government and serves as one of the major social events for those in the surrounding community. Many delay their “snowbird” migration until after the event and for some, the event is their “Thanksgiving dinner.”
