Zonta Selects Cheryl Rogers to Receive 2016 Woman of Achievement Award

For 31 years, the Zonta Club of Oswego has presented its prestigious Ameila Earhart Woman of Achievement Award to a woman who has dedicated herself to her community and who serves as a role model for young women. This year, Cheryl Rogers will be the award winner at the 32nd annual Amelia Earhart Woman of Achievement Dinner, which will be held on September 23 at the American Foundry in Oswego.

Oswego County Search and Rescue Academy Graduates 15

The students completed more than 108 hours of classroom training and field work between March and June. During their final field tests in the Happy Valley Wildlife Management Area, all 15 students were individually evaluated for their skills in map and compass, land navigation, global positioning systems, and survival skills as they covered a course more than three miles in length.

Oswego Health Fun Run Sponsored by Aramark

Local youths can take part in their own event as a part of Oswego Health’s upcoming Run For Your Health 5K walk/run on August 13. A free one-mile run for those age four to 12 will take place on the Seneca Hill campus just prior to the start of the main race. The fun run starts at 8 a.m., with the 5K race beginning at 8:30 a.m. All participants for the kids run must be registered.

Porky and Buddy Pet Health – Is It OK To Kiss Your Pets?

Here’s a question that has been “bugging” me, if you know what I mean. Is it OK to kiss your pets? Really. I do sometimes, not a big slobbery kiss, but a little smooch on the snout of my adorable black lab, Miranda, and sometimes she gives me a little lick that I would consider a kiss. Is there any harm in it? My girlfriend is totally grossed out by it and insists that I should not be doing it at all.
