Oswego Rotary celebrated its veterans at a recent program. Kerry Barnes representing Quilts of Valor presented each veteran with a handmade quilt from the Quilts of Valor Foundation.

A bill that requires the state to fund any new mandate it imposes on local governments and schools passed the State Senate on June 5 and was delivered to the Assembly for consideration.

Students from many academic disciplines including art, business, education, science, and technology explained their work using posters or presentations. Gallery and performance space was allocated to students in the performing and visual arts.

Oswego resident Tyler Hunt earned a BS in Sports Medicine at Merrimack College at the college’s 66th Commencement Exercises in May 2016.

Fulton Fire Department Assistant Chief Dave Eiffe, a 17-year member of the department, visited Fulton Rotary recently to tell Rotarians about FRY. The Fire Related Youth program assists children ages 5 to 18 who have been referred to the program by law enforcement or Social Services due to troubling behavior involving fire.

Operation Oswego County, Oswego County’s designated economic development organization, was recently awarded “best in class” for the Upstate Energy Jobs (UEJ) website by the New York State Economic Development Council’s (NYSEDC) at its 2016 marketing and promotional materials award competition.

Timothy Conners of Fulton, a Communication Studies major at Ithaca College, was inducted into Phi Kappa Phi, one of the country’s oldest and most selective honor societies.

Longtime SUNY Oswego professional staff members in technology services, alumni relations and financial aid have been recognized by the statewide university system with this year’s SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Professional Service.

SUNY Oswego has named several high-performing students from the area to the President’s List for spring 2016 for earning grade point averages of 3.80 and above on the 4.00 scale.
