Michael A. Maroun Elementary fourth grade students recently performed their last elementary concert at the school. The sharply-dressed students brought their confidence and smiles to the “What a Wonderful World”-themed spring concert, which was held in the intermediate cafeteria and gymnasium.

The John C. Birdlebough High School Earth Science Honors class boasted academic exploration during the annual Earth Science Honors Research Symposium, held in the JCB library. The symposium was a culmination of six months of student research based on climate change.

Several Emerson J. Dillon Middle School students were recently recognized for improving their academics from the second quarter to the third quarter. Honorees received a Jump Shot Award for achieving an overall average of 65 or higher and for increasing their average by five points.

Kristen Munger, associate dean of the SUNY Oswego School of Education, has edited and co-authored a new Open SUNY textbook on research-driven literacy teaching practices. “Steps for Success: Crossing the Bridge Between Literacy Research and Practice” recently became the college’s first contribution to the open-access library of State University-published textbooks.

SUNY Oswego professor Dr. Damian Schofield, director of the college’s graduate program in human-computer interaction, spoke recently to Syracuse-area high school students at STEM Careers Day at Upstate Medical University’s Biotech Accelerator on East Fayette Street.

Lakeside Artisans welcomes new members, Jim and Suzanne Stout, to its gallery of talented local artists. A unique husband and wife team, Suzanne works in the store, while Jim creates one-of-a-kind wooden works of art in his shop.

Students in the Bridges to Success alternative education program are now equipped with tools to make healthy choices. Bridges, a CiTi program located on Dutch Ridge Road in Oswego, recently welcomed CiTi Teen Health Issues Educator Kristen Paura to discuss components of healthy relationships.
