A lesson in having a generous heart that’s also healthy recently culminated for students at the Fourth Street School with a physical education celebration. Students of the Stepping Stones Day Program crushed their $200 Jump Rope for Heart goal, after having collected about $500 for the American Heart Association.
The Blue Team is at it again, vying for another national milk carton contest award. About five months after students in Robyn Yorker’s Stepping Stones Day Program classroom won a $1,000 prize for a milk carton sculpture contest in the fall, they have entered into the spring Carton2Garden milk carton contest.
Students from the Altmar-Parish-Williamstown, Fulton, Hannibal, Mexico, Oswego, Phoenix, Pulaski and Sandy Creek school districts attended this free event to learn about career choices in the county from local business professionals.
The Eastern Communication Association recently honored SUNY Oswego communication studies department chair Dr. Mary C. Toale as an ECA Teaching Fellow at its annual conference in Baltimore. The designation recognizes a distinguished career of teaching excellence in the field of communication and is limited to colleagues who have active and ongoing service to the association.
Ten students from the Sandy Creek Central, Hannibal Central and Pulaski Academy & Central school districts recently spent the morning at CiTi’s Mexico campus to learn more about CTE Business: a project-based business program that develops students’ understanding and skills about business.
Students selected must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 and maintain a high academic standing throughout their enrollment at CCC.
CiTi students in the Career and Technical Education program recently completed a project-based learning activity, which involved a group study of a children’s author, development of a lesson based on their favorite book by that author and a writing of their own children’s book.
Blessings in a Backpack is a national program that provides weekend nourishment to school children on the Federal Free and Reduced Meal Program.
The funding for the Northern New York Agricultural Development Program is supported by the New York State Senate and is administered through the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets.
On April 23, Mother Earth Baby will be host to the Oswego site of the sixth annual international Great Cloth Diaper Change and Healthy Baby Expo. This year’s event will take place at Elim Grace Church, 340 W. First St., from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
