The Oswego County Health Department offers a variety of services to all residents of Oswego County, including preventive health services, certified hospice, and a maternal and child health program.

Paula Robles, an exchange student from Spain sponsored by the Fulton Rotary Clubs, attended the club’s weekly meeting to share memories of her trip to New York City.

To be eligible for the award, a student must be a freshman, sophomore or junior with a grade-point average of 3.9 or higher. Student award winners received a certificate, a gift card to the campus bookstore, and an invitation to attend the annual Susan Sutton Smith Lecture and reception.

In recognition of Colon Cancer Awareness Month Carolyn Handville program coordinator for Oswego County Opportunities Cancer Services Program challenged health providers throughout Oswego County to Go Blue and creatively decorate their offices in blue, the official color for Colon Cancer Awareness.

Supporters of the United Way of Greater Oswego County gathered at Holy Trinity Church in Fulton to enjoy a delicious meal of soup, salad, rolls and dessert at United Way’s Stone Soup Too Luncheon.

This Mother’s Day, May 8, come to the Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center for a meet and greet with the ephemeral “little people” of the forest floor. Enjoy a Mother’s Day Wildflower Wander at 2 p.m. along the center’s trails with naturalist Pat Carney.

The theme of this year’s luncheon event, “A Day at the Beach,” saw the room transformed into a tropical paradise, all to celebrate the many contributions volunteers make on behalf of residents at St. Luke Health Services, Bishop’s Commons, St. Francis Commons and Michaud Health Services, throughout the year.

The American Council on Education has named Dr. Kristen Eichhorn, professor of communication studies at SUNY Oswego and faculty fellow in the college’s President’s Office, as an ACE Fellow for academic year 2016-17. Eichhorn is one of 33 fellows, nominated by the senior administration of their institutions, who were selected this year following a rigorous application process.

This year’s SAFE Fair will include a program of speakers with topics around the heroin crisis, community services and Hope for Recovery. Keynote speaker will be Penny Morley, prevention director at Farnham Family Services. This free family event will be held at the Oswego Elks Lodge on April 24 from noon to 5 p.m.
