Penny Kimball, an Oswego County artist, will instruct two wood carving programs as part of Amboy 4-H Environmental Education Center’s Nature Inspires series. On October 18 will be an Introduction to Wood Carving in Relief and on October 25 Wood Carving in the Round will take place. Both classes will begin at 2 p.m. and run until about 5 p.m.
Oswego County Opportunities, one of the top 10 largest private employers in Oswego County, has welcomed 15 new members to the agency’s staff. The new employees, who will join the OCO’s staff of human services professionals, recently completed the agency’s orientation process and will begin to serve consumers in their respective programs.

SUNY Oswego’s 2015 Warren Steinkraus Lecture on Human Ideals, on Oct. 3, will feature Dr. Jonathan Riley, an expert on the work of John Stuart Mill, a 19th century philosopher who significantly contributed to modern political theory.
My dog, Alonzo, is about ten years old and all of a sudden he seems to be slowing down. He doesn’t seem to really like to go running with me any more and sometimes he sort of sighs and groans when he gets up out of his bed. I have a little arthritis myself and I just take Aleve for it and it seems to help. Can I safely give that to Alonzo? I hate to see him so uncomfortable.
