The Oswego County Salvation Army has begun a project building a powerful new resource for individuals, agencies, and faith communities across the region.

By showing a high level of dedication and perseverance over the course of the 690-hour program, students Megan Bennett, Sabrina Conklin, Desiree Denny, Alondra Esparza, Carrie Hammond, Jasmine Maldonado, Kristen Stock and Kendra Valley all successfully navigated their way to graduation.

Oswego County Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner proclaimed Oct. 18 to 24 Freedom from Workplace Bullies Week, and encourages all citizens to promote safe and healthy workplace environments.

Several area residents who were SUNY Oswego freshmen and sophomores worked with faculty members this summer on research projects, thanks to funding provided by the National Science Foundation’s STEM Talent Expansion Program, designed to encourage students to stay with majors in science, technology, engineering or math.

The Pulaski Historical Society will dedicate the Children’s Room in the museum to Eleanor “Ellie” Spicer on Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.

Job seekers who are looking to upgrade their skills can now enroll in an on-line learning system through the One Stop Career Center operated by the Oswego County Workforce New York office.

SUNY Oswego’s high-tech new signs will glow purple overnight Oct. 20 into Oct. 21, to help the campus “Shine the Light on Domestic Violence,” including dating abuse.

On October 18, a pancake breakfast will be held at Lake City Masonic Lodge No. 127 at 127 E. Seneca St. The hours will be from 8 a.m. until noon to support Hospice.

The Minetto United Methodist Church will host a free dinner on October 25, serving from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. The menu will be beef stew, mashed potatoes, beets, corn bread, and dessert. Donations are not expected but will be accepted.
