The Oswego Players announce open auditions for the December production of “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” to be directed by Jennifer Snow. Auditions will be held Oct. 22 from 5:30 – 7 p.m. and Oct. 24 from 12:30-1:30 p.m.
James E Lanigan Elementary will be hosting its first-ever Family Color-A-Thon on October 24. “Lanigan is inviting everyone to join them in being more active,” said the coordinator, Nichole Slocum. “Anyone can join in on the Color Run!”
First graders at Lanigan Elementary are coordinating a “Pint Size Heroes” blood drive to take place October 27. It all started with a class project in which they learned about the human body; a registered nurse from SUNY Upstate Medical University came to their class for a demonstration.
Syracuse Stage and SU Drama came to APW Elementary recently as part of the Bank of America Children’s Tour, giving an eye-opening performance of a play called “New Kid.”
The Granby Elementary Parent Teacher Group has partnered with McDonald’s Restaurant, Route 481, Fulton, to raise funds for PTG. On Oct. 15, the restaurant will donate a percentage of all sales between 4 and 7 p.m. to the PTG.
Altmar-Parish-Williamstown sixth grade students are working to erase the epidemic of meanness in schools. As a community-building activity, Roy Trumble and Matt Frost’s APW sixth grade classes participated in a world-wide campaign entitled “Erase Meanness.”
Saylor, also known as Boat Cat, was found under a boat. The vet’s office named her Boat Cat – her foster mom named her Saylor … get it? She was pretty banged up with a hip and and leg injury and a high fever when she was first rescued by a kind-hearted stranger and probably could not have survived on her own for much longer.
Rotarians Lori Greeney and Ken Patrick are smiling because they have just received the coveted Paul Harris Fellowship award. The award is named after Paul Harris, a Chicago attorney, who was one of the founders of Rotary International.
Director of OCO Education Services Beth Kazel presented longevity awards to staff of OCO Education Services for 10 years of loyal service to OCO and its consumers.
The Oswego County Historical Society proudly presents the 50th anniversary of “The Sound of Music.” The classic film will be featured on November 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the historic landmark Oswego Theatre at 138 W. Second St. All proceeds from the event will support the Richardson-Bates House Museum in Oswego.
