Fall To Bring Rambles, Storytelling and More To Rice Creek

Signs of autumn point to the 400 acres of SUNY Oswego’s Rice Creek Field Station, where free nature education programs and recreational trails await. Summer Fun Planned At Fulton Library Aug. 21

The minute school let out for the summer, the library stepped into high gear with its Children’s Summer Program. Some of the activities included visits by members of the Fulton Fire Department and Connie Evans from Paws Across Oswego County/Tails and Tales, read her book, “Charlotte’s Big Dream” about a rescued dog.

Local Speakers Invited to Present at Oswego War of 1812 Symposium

“Next year, we are also commemorating the Oswego County Bicentennial,” said Fort Ontario State Historic Site Superintendent Paul Lear, chairman of the Oswego International War of 1812 Symposium Committee. “Several local speakers will be included in the stellar panel of presenters. They will talk about a variety of topics related to the history of the county and its origins.”

Foster Hope in Oswego County: Become a Foster Parent

Oswego County is currently experiencing a shortage of foster homes for children and teens. At any given time, there are up to 60 children in foster care. Less than half of the teens in care have the option to reside in a local foster home. As a result, they are placed in foster homes, group homes or other types of residential facilities outside of the county.

Sheriff’s Office To Hold Public Safety Day Aug. 29

The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office will hold a Public Safety Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Aug. 29, at the Oswego County Highway Garage. The event will feature children’s games and prizes, a bike giveaway and bike rodeo, free child ID cards, free car seat checks, and information on a variety of local services such as bicycle safety, search and rescue operations, and several other community programs.
