The blood drive will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. August 20 and then from 2 to 6 p.m. August 21 in the JPC conference room in the lower level of the Oswego Health Services Center, which is adjacent to Oswego Hospital.
This year’s event will be on September 19 from noon to 7 p.m. at the Fulton Polish Home located at 153 W. First St. S. (Route 48.)
As a follow-up to its recent Darkness to Light Workshop the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County is now offering a weekly support group for adolescent survivors of sexual or physical abuse to aid in their healing process and recovery from this traumatic experience.
For those interested in expanding or starting a small business in Oswego County, there is a small business training class scheduled to begin in September. The course is scheduled to begin September 12 and run each Saturday through Oct. 10. The classes will be held at SUNY Oswego Phoenix Center, Oswego County Industrial Park (off of exit 14 on 481), Phoenix, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Patrick Dewine, executive director of United Way of Greater Oswego Count has announced that the Oswego Fire Fighters Association Local 126 is now collecting school supplies in support of the Stuff-A-Bus campaign at their main headquarters, 35 E. Cayuga St.
Rotarian William Rasbeck presented an oversized check in the amount of $500 to Madden Rowlee. She will use the money toward her freshman year expenses at Clarkson University.
MASH Camp has become a summer tradition at Oswego Hospital, providing area eighth and ninth graders an opportunity to learn more about careers in the healthcare field as they participate in fun, hands-on activities. This year, 17 students took part in the two-day camp, where they visited key hospital departments, learned Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and how to suture, which was taught by members of the Oswego Hospital surgical services department.
On August 11, Lake City F&AM No 127 honored its veteran members. A large gathering attended the lodge for its awards night. A turkey dinner was prepared and served by Lake City Victoria Chapter Order of Eastern Star.
SUNY Potsdam’s internship program places students with employers whose interests align with their studies. Each student intern has a faculty sponsor, and earns between 1 and 12 credits toward their degree requirements.
State Senator Patty Ritchie is reminding Oswego County residents that another round of free waste tire disposal events will take place on Saturday, August 15, from 8 a.m. to noon at transfer stations throughout Oswego County. According to the County Health Department, spraying for mosquitoes is expected to take place Friday evening in the towns of Constantia, Hastings and West Monroe.
