There will be a Family Safety Day and Child Passenger Seat Check at the Scriba Town Highway Department (behind the Scriba Volunteer Fire Department) August 29 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
Five Oswego Hospital registered nurses each volunteered an evening this summer to help support a local Cub Scout camp. The Cub Scouts, who were from throughout Oswego County and in grades kindergarten through fifth, took part in the weeknight twilight camp held at the Oswego County Airport.

Now, following nine years of study at Binghamton University and University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine, the time has come for Dr. Ashley Mears DDS to join the dental practice of her father, Dr. Ernest Mears DDS.
SUNY Oswego has made Deans’ Awards to a select group of students who are starting at the college in fall 2015. The scholarships are $6,000 over four years. For non-New York state students, the total award can increase to as much as $38,000 in combination with a Destination Oswego scholarship.
State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced that eight libraries throughout Jefferson, Oswego and St. Lawrence counties will receive more than $250,000 in public library construction funds to make upgrades to their facilities.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has awarded Clarkson University a $6.5 million five-year Great Lakes Restoration Initiative grant to continue its partnership with SUNY Fredonia and SUNY Oswego to conduct the Great Lakes Fish Monitoring and Surveillance Program.
Fulton Rotarian Alison McGrath explained the “Stuff A Bus” program at a recent Rotary meeting at the Tavern on the Lock Restaurant. “Stuff A Bus” is a Greater Oswego County United Way program which supplies school materials to needy students in all school districts in the county.
