State Senator Patty Ritchie announced that nearly 4,500 waste tires totaling nearly 70 tons have been eliminated as a result of the recent free waste tire drop off events, held in Oswego County. Tires disposed of brings the two year total of tires eliminated through the Senator’s initiative aimed at protecting public health and the environment, as well as cleaning up our region, to nearly 40,000, which translates to roughly 560 tons of tires.
Residents at Morningstar Residential Care Center were treated to a banana split cake social in celebration of National Banana Split Day.
Exotic animals of different shapes and sizes were on display at St .Luke Health Services and residents had the opportunity to see many close up and hear interesting facts about each from some very knowledgeable “Junior Zookeepers.”
Alaina Perkins works with two other AmeriCorps members, Amanda McFarland and Ashley Wood, at Camp Zerbe in Williamstown. Along with snacks like Butterfly Trail Mix, they also introduced tropical fruit smoothies (a favorite) and a fruit bar, where the kids could select fruits to try from several trays, including kiwi, banana, green and red apples, oranges, and grapes.
